Small Jobs Don't Count

At this point the McKenzie Marsh boardwalk railing on St. John's Sideroad in Aurora is looking very attractive. Unfortunately it is not compatible for indoors.
Why this comment? Because I am having a hard time to understand why small jobs don't count for small businesses in Aurora or Newmarket. Being Aurora citizen for 11 years I feel obligated to give any renovation jobs to the local businesses. However, no body ever calls us back. It happened to us with kitchen island. On the end it costs us few thousand dollars to get someone to make the island outside the town. Then there were windows. Someone did call us back - but then we wished they did not. Job wasn't well done. On the end the best we could do is to install curtains to cover the 'ugly' finish. I have feeling that we burned a bridge with this company. It seemed like for this particular window company it was normal to do installation incorrectly first time, and then fix it later. As a business owner, there is obviously less cost to the job well done the first time. I guess businesses still have lots to learn.
The latest and greatest. Sales person arrives at our home to quote installation of the 10 feet railing and to be installed into the tile. Waited two days, three days and then a week. No body called, as promised. We call them back. Nope cannot do it. It is too much of a risk to drill into a tile. Obviously the sales guy didn't know much about railing, because according to other 3 installers - no problem, and one of them is coming from out the town. Let me say that, all other railings in my house to be soon replaced, a bigger job, will not be done by the royals living in Newmarket.
Do I sound angry? Oh well Living in Aurora is not always that great. I think I will go shopping - right now Wal-Mart is sounds good to me.
